What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is an ancient art. The date of origination is unknown, but there is evidence that it was a common healing treatment practiced 5,000 years ago in ancient Asian and Middle Eastern cultures. North American native people also used this technique.
In this process the patient lies down on a treatment table. The reflexologist applies pressure on specific points of the feet using her hands. The use of pressure on these reflex points stimulates the sensory receptors of the nerves present in the foot. The nerve impulse then is transmitted to the spinal cord and is distributed to the entire nervous system. Pain relieving hormones are released into the bloodstream that provide a soothing effect to the aches, pains and ailments.
What are the benefits of Reflexology?
Reflexology is a great way to relieve tension, improve circulation and it helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body.
